Butler is a fanatic, who is seeking to instigate an Indian war in order to gain control of the whole Mohawk valley. Mohawk Chief Kowanen holds his tribe in check but the impatient warrior Rokhawah, goads tribe members into raiding the fort to steal guns. Butler kills Kowanen s son, Keoga, and this prompts the chief into declaring war against the white men.
